Necklace With Bone
This picture shows the progression of the clay teeth. I made them by hand sculpting them. I used a spoon to polish them once they had air dried. After that I threw them into the kiln. They are made to represent animal claws similar to a bear's.
This picture shows the clay claws once they were air dried and smoothed with a spoon. Above the claws there are copper triangles that were in the process of being sanded. I used various grades of sand paper to get the triangles down to the smoothest they could be. After that I placed them in acid to get unique patterns in the copper.
This is the final result of the necklace put together. I used coffee to stain the clay bones to give them a more realistic look. They turned tan colors and cracked which made them more realistic. The copper triangles above show how the acid went to work. I left the main triangle smooth and made it larger so that it would draw attractive and be the focal point. After they were finish I strung them with twine and a thin wire.
This is a close up picture of the necklace. This picture allows you to see the details that the coffee made. I like this picture a lot because the empathizes on the bone claw and blurs out the other pieces of the necklace. If I were to take this project one step further I would have made an adjustable piece on the necklace strings so that it would be easier to put on and off. This project shows how I used common art room materials to portray and ancient piece of jewerly.
